Sweet Wormwood Extract – Why Is It Beneficial?Miha Borec
Sweet wormwood also known as Artemisia Annua is a medicinal plant that is known and used in China for millennia. The first records of the use of this herb date back to the 4th century AD and are found in the Chinese Handbook of Prescriptions for Emergency Treatments. Due to its long-term use in traditional medicine, sweet wormwood has also been researched by Chinese scientists. Scientist Tu JouJou managed to find an active ingredient – Artemisinin, which is responsible for the healing power of the herb in sweet wormwood. The scientist received the Nobel Prize for this discovery.
Artemisinin was first established in modern pharmacology as an effective anti-malarial drug. Further studies have shown that wormwood is also effective in suppressing colds, lowering fever, flu and other viral illnesses. Recently, several studies have been conducted to confirm its effectiveness in combating the COVID-19 virus.
Another area where scientists have proven the effectiveness of sweet wormwood is oncology. Sweet wormwood is an effective aid in the treatment of various cancers as it inhibits the growth of cancer cells. They found that for best results, it is advisable to take iron with sweet wormwood. In this way, they have successfully helped in the treatment of leukemia, breast, thyroid, prostate, stomach cancer…
Taking sweet wormwood extract is also recommended as a preventative against cancer. A study on laboratory rats showed that rats fed artemisinin had significantly fewer breast cancer than the control group (57% fed artemisinine versus 96% in the control group). However, rats that were otherwise diagnosed with cancer developed the disease more slowly if they received artemisinin in their diet.
In addition to all the listed benefits, consuming Artemisia annua extract strengthens our immune system. Therefore, we recommend it to anyone who wants to strengthen their health and prevent cancer. However, taking sweet wormwood to pregnant women in the first trimester is not recommended, as it can have a negative effect on the fetus. Caution should also be exercised when taking wormwood preparations for diabetics, as it lowers blood sugar levels.
Among the natural preparations of sweet wormwood, we recommend taking Artemisia Annua extract, as it contains the most active ingredients. When preparing teas, we must be very careful that the water does not exceed 60 ° C, as in this case artemisinin decomposes. At Erbetix, we made sure that our organically grown sweet wormwood was harvested at the right time and we can boast a very high content of artemisinin in our extracts. Even the process of our processing allows us to preserve all the best substances that this long-appreciated medicinal plant offers us. The laboratory analyzes we performed at the Inslab laboratory confirm the quality of our product.
